A great friend

We were very fond of June and George. I met June when she first came along to St Barnabas at a course being held at the Vicarage. How June changed in those early days that I knew her! This would have been around 1986. At the time, life wasn’t easy for her but I witnessed great joy and peace flood into her life as she grew in her faith.

We shared a love of music and enjoyed a wide variety of performances from jazz, to musicals, to classical.

We shared in sad & happy times and when my first husband died, June would come along at Christmas time and help with elf duties, wrapping presents for stockings! What a laugh we had! When I  finally married for a second time, June was instrumental in securing our reception venue at Trent Park. Both June & George provided our wedding transport to our reception and our getaway vehicle, driving their white toyota saloon which was beautifully decorated with ribbons and flowers. They expertly dodged those who were trying to ‘do up’ our car. Nobody found out it was June & George’s car we were using until we ran towards it!

These are some words that I think describe her:

Kind; friendly; a good listener; fun; colourful; creative & artistic; resourceful; resilient; a friend of Jesus; positive; loyal; loved poetry; loved music; loved people; overcomer; enjoyed food, theatre & music; enjoyed helping people; generous.

So many lovely memories of a dear friend who touched many lives with her generosity and fun!
